How it works

  • The dial-up accelerator uses proxy servers deployed on the Internet Backbone in North America, Western Europe, Central and South America and in Asia Pacific. The network is redundant and fault-tolerant with automatic geographical load balancing among the servers.
  • The proxy servers and Accelerator software use proprietary data compression technology that is far more effective than the normal compression technology based on public standards. The state-of-the-art compression technology compresses text data up to 10x and image data up to 3x, far higher than public standards.
  • A multi-point caching mechanism further speeds downloading of graphics and static files.
  • On average, DNS lookup on these servers is much faster, given the proximity of our computers to the DNS servers.
  • Conversion of GIF image files to JPEG lowers the amount of data on a Web page (GIF files tend to be larger).
  • Persistent connections to our servers eliminate frequent creation of TCP connections.
  • Suppression of banner ads saves additional bandwidth needs.
  • Prevention of annoying pop-up ads before they reach the desktop reduces download time and also increases privacy (many pop-ups contain cookies). The Pop-up Removal feature blocks pop-ups, pop-unders and exit windows, while allowing for 'legitimate' pop-ups.
  • Blocking of web "bugs" that are used by advertisers to track Internet users will further protect your privacy.
  • The dial-up accelerator will not speed up some file downloads. These items may not be cached and are already more than likely compressed.
  • Image quality is reduced to speed up download times. Therefore, if a high quality image is required simply bring up the client settings and change the desired image quality and refresh the page. All settings are under complete control of the user.

Browser - Internet Explorer 5.01 or higher, or Netscape versions 4.07 through 7.0. OS - Win98, Win Me, Win XP, Win NT 4, Win 2000. Hardware: PC, 2MB of disk space and 3 MB RAM. MAC is not supported.
