The re-canvassing of the Edgar County cemeteries was started in 1998 by volunteers of the Edgar County Genealogical Society.
The volunteers agreed to read the Edgar Cemetery here in Paris lot by lot and tombstone by tombstone, with printouts from the Edgar Cemetery Association.
Since the completion of the project after five years, the volunteers (Barbara Switzer and Linda Cary) moved on to the cemeteries in Stratton Township:
Pryor/Lochenhour; Little Grove and Blackburn. Another Saturday a small group re-canvassed the Oak Grove Cemetery. Volunteers also have re-canvassed the Franklin,
Hoult and Cherry Point cemeteries in Edgar Township.
A. Joyce Brown and Mary St. Clair have re-canvassed the Shield Cemetery in Embarrass Township and the Payne Cemetery in Shiloh Township.
In the spring of 2005 Linda & Clark Cary started the re-canvassing project, with the following completed:

With the completion of Fairview this week the Cemetery database now has 52,685 entries, with 345 people being added to the list. I would also like
to say that there have been changes in almost all the above cemeteries, with the exception of two or three small ones. When a cmetetery is completed the new listing is printed
and placed on the shelves of the Edgar County Genealogy Library for use by our patrons.
